At least four people were killed and 17 others were injured after a float in a veterans parade was hit by a freight train at a West Texas railroad crossing on Thursday.
According to witnesses, the train sounded its horn and some passengers on the decorated flatbed truck bailed out before the collision, which occurred at approximately 4:40 p.m. in Midland.
Two people were declared dead at the scene and two others died at Midland Memorial Hospital, while seven of the survivors injured were in critical condition. Ten others injured were reportedly in stable condition.
