When the news broke late last week that Hostess Brands was shuttering their operations, Twinkies fans took to social media to bemoan the death of their favorite snack cake and rushed to stores to get the last remaining boxes. Well, it turns out that there may not be a need to go on a Zombieland-like quest for the last box of Twinkies.

Hostess Brands will be in bankruptcy court in New York on Monday to start selling off their assets. One of those assets likely to be picked up by another snack-maker is Twinkies, which have brought in about $68 million in revenue this year.

University of Michigan Law School professor John Pottow, who specializes in bankruptcy, says, "It's quite conceivable that they can sell the name and recipe for Twinkies to a company that want to make them."
