Viagra may be advertised during televised football games, but Pfizer [pr: FY-zer] -- the company that sells the drug -- wants everyone to know that the pills are "solely for the treatment of erectile dysfunction."
A rep for the company felt the need to clarify the use of Viagra after Chicago Bears wide receiver Brandon Marshall claimed in a recent interview that some of his fellow NFL players are using the little blue pill to help their game -- on the field.
Marshall said, "I've heard some crazy stories. I've heard [of] guys using like Viagra, seriously. Because the blood is supposedly thin, some crazy stuff. So, you know, it's kind of scary with some of these chemicals that are in some of these things so you have to be careful."
The Pfizer rep also urged caution, saying, "Pfizer has not examined the safety of Viagra in men without E.D. [erectile dysfunction] and does not promote or encourage the use of Viagra for any use but the treatment of E.D."
