Police in Brazil have arrested three people in connection with the nightclub fire in Santa Maria that killed more than 230 people.
Authorities have not released the names of those arrested, but they will be held for five days while the investigation continues. A police official says, "We concluded that it was necessary to hold them prisoner temporarily, because we need their statements to help us clarify the incident."
The nightclub's license to operate had expired in August, though its owners insist that it had been inspected by the fire marshal.
