The story of former Los Angeles police officer Christopher Dorner took the nation by storm on Thursday, as authorities launched what's been called the biggest manhunt in the history of Los Angeles for the suspected cop killer.
•It was Wednesday night that Dorner was identified as the suspect in the weekend killing of an Irvine, California couple. It turned out that Monica Quan, the 28-year-old woman killed in the shooting, is the daughter of an ex-LAPD captain who Dorner felt did a bad job representing him in the hearing that led to his firing from the force.
•A "manifesto" was discovered on Dorner's Facebook profile in which he vowed to kill LAPD officers and their families.
•A package Dorner sent to CNN anchor Anderson Cooper was discovered. It contained a coin given to Dorner by former LAPD Chief William Bratton, riddled with bullet holes with a cryptic message.
•Early Thursday morning, two LAPD officers protecting someone on Dorner's hit list were alerted about a truck that matched Dorner's. In the chase, gunfire was exchanged and one officer was grazed in the head, but Donner got away. Later, Dorner allegedly ambushed two Riverside police officers -- one was shot to death. Another was badly injured.
•Close to dawn on Thursday, two LAPD officers in Torrance, California opened fire a truck matching Dorner's. Turns out its two innocent newspaper delivery women. Both were shot and injured.
•On Thursday morning, the manhunt turned to the Big Bear Mountain area. Schools and ski resorts were shut down. In the late afternoon, Dorner's truck was found abandoned and burned, but he was nowhere to be found.
•As night fell, a door-to-door search was underway in the mountain resort area.
