It appears that Christopher Dorner is dead as sheriff's investigators are now testing the remains pulled Wednesday from a burned down cabin in Big Bear, California to confirm his identity. However, the controversy surrounding his death lives on.
On Wednesday, audio allegedly recorded off law enforcement radios during Tuesday's standoff was posted on YouTube. In it, officers appear to discuss burning down the cabin as a plan to either get Dorner out of the cabin or to kill him. Officers are heard discussing moving forward with "the plan, with the burn" and later another officer is heard saying, "Seven burners deployed and we have a fire."
However, law enforcement officials say that's not the case. They did confirm that two different types of tear gas were used. First, so-called "cold" tear gas and when that didn't seem to work, they turned to "pyrotechnic" tear gas, also known as "burners," which have been known to start fires.
