With a massive snow storm hitting Washington, D.C. just as the automatic spending cuts known as the sequester are kicking in, clever Twitter user @philliefan99 came up with the name "snowquester." The name was quickly adopted by The Washington Post's Capital Weather Gang.
While the snow is piling up with as much as eight inches expected in in Washington, and a winter storm warning in effect through 3 a.m. Thursday, the storm is on, but not everyone is happy about "snowquester" name.
Here's a sampling of "snowquester" tweets:
•@drewmagary: "There's a storm coming Wednesday and they're already calling it Snowquester. And by "they," I mean horrible people."
•@jbarro: "We could avoid this Snowquester if Washington politicians would just reach a grand bargain on Snowtitlement reform and closing loopsnows."
•@StressedKiki: "Please don't call it snowquester or i might have to scratch my eyes out with a rusty nail."
•@berberich: "@JeffreyGoldberg Oddly enough, the only people in my timeline using 'snowquester' are those telling people to stop saying 'snowquester.'"
