The 600,000 customers who'll face lengthy delays for their tax refunds due to a mistake may think the tax preparer should change their name to H&R Blockhead.

It wasn't H&R Block, but the IRS who announced the problem. It affects mostly college student who filed Form 8863 for education credits from February 14th through February 22nd. To make matters worse, many of those students are worried the delay will affect their applications for college financial aid.

IRS spokeswoman Michelle Eldridge said in a statement, "The IRS is continuing to review the situation and working with affected software companies to assist in the processing of these tax returns."
