Leaves changing, cool mornings and evenings, football tailgating, the start of the NBA, and the beginning of the holiday season are just a few of the many reasons everyone loves Fall. December magazine issues, boots, sweaters, felt hats, cords, and jeans … now those are a few of a fashionista’s favorite things about Fall.

A few weeks ago we set our clocks back. And even though the first official day of Fall may have been Sept. 22, it doesn’t feel like Fall to me until I get that extra hour of beauty sleep! The weather in OKC has been beautiful the last few weeks, but in true Oklahoma fashion, it doesn’t last very long. The unpredictable Fall weather --  Spring-like days mixed with almost Summer-like days and the sudden chill when the sun goes down – offers quite the fashion predicament. So what’s a girl to do? LAYER! When the weather is transitioning, do the same with your wardrobe.

Fall is the time to mix your Summer staples with your light Winter gear. That cute printed sundress will work great under a long cardigan and cowboy boots. Bright tank tops add a pop of color under a basic lightweight sweater. On the colder days of Fall, try that same sundress-and-cardigan combo with tights, a warm scarf, and knee-high boots.

What a fashionista loves so much about Fall is the versatility and creativity she can have with the clothes in her closet.

Fall is such a short season in OKC, so take some fashion risk and have fun with your closet – you’ll be surprised at what can work! Plus, retailers will have a sale for every holiday and event, so take advantage of the great deals by adding some fabulous Fall trends to your wardrobe.

Look to Old Navy to follow the colorful denim and cord trends on a budget- they have all of the colors of the rainbow to choose from:

Lucky Brand has that vintage vibe -- mixed denim, a big, floppy felt hat, and Oxfords --  that’s perfect for Fall. And they have a store in the Outlet Shoppes off I-40!

A favorite childhood print is all grown up for Fall, and Kate Spade shows it off perfectly. A polka-dot blouse looks professional under a blazer paired with tailored trousers. Summer polka dots can be mixed with a cardigan and skinny jeans tucked into knee-high boots for a casual Fall look.

Another print that is cozy and on trend for those cool, Fall days: Tribal. Take your pick -- bright or muted – you cannot go wrong with this print. Let it have all the attention! Jeans, a fitted tee, and your favorite pair of boots are all you need to look effortless in this trend.

Pendleton shows off a beautiful example of Navajo prints.

Boots are always the go-to shoe for Fall, but try mixing it up with Oxfords this season. Just as easy to wear as boots, but they give a classic menswear vibe to your outfit that is sure to get some compliments. Check out Steve Madden’s must-have line of Oxfords below:
