Information is power right? But is there a difference between information and inundation… Thinking today's media, making an effort to get a story out is to not only more about one up'ing the competitor, but giving way more detail than necessary to overindulge viewers/listeners/readers trying to keep them with the kind of information that almost becomes an addiction in a sick way! Think about it, wasn't that long ago with the tragedy downtown, followed later by 911 and sadly, multiple school shootings and many other tragedies as the years progress… It was just immediate need information. In the digital age that we are in now, you can get information about the information... details on the details and actually details about details that you didn't even really think you needed until you actually got them and then, it becomes an addiction to get even more! Yet how can this be good for us psychologically? I know for me coming to work this morning, it was even a challenge thinking about kissing my kids and sending them off to school and not know what the hell was to happen! Thankfully for me, and many others that I know cling to the same philosophy… We have our faith! Some media can be well-meaning, bringing to light the positive stories… Of heroism and survival, which can be consolation for those viewers /listeners and readers that have taken in way more than necessary. I fear this inundation of information is not only bad for us, but desestitizes our society even more and can serve to empower the sick bastards that sadly don't have the moral compass to guide themselves in an appropriate way! So I personally made a decision after hearing from so many of you on how you're feeling today and quite frankly how I'm feeling as a mom who is also susceptible and easily addicted to this information especially, where our children are concerned… To keep it positive today! As for those who want to make this about guns alone, remember Timothy McVay didn't do the damage that he did in 1995 with a gun! Could it be that we are creating a generation of people who have a problem not with guns, but with their heart?! The words of Mike Huckabee and even Mr. Rogers, seems to sum it up a bit better here in my opinion...
It's good to have support when you want to get things of your chest/mind.
