Geez!  This is the Blog that Joe Friday calls the "Boob Blog!"  But you gotta admit, Is there anything funnier or more awkward than having a mammogram?! Such an important thing to do by the way… Second only to self breast exams!  I would never say for a second that it is something to avoid because of any awkwardness, but though lifesaving, can you ever think of anything as stinking funny to go through... Ever?!  Don't know about you guys, but sorta puts things in perspective for the gals, when your breast is sandwiched between two great big metal plates. Is just one of those things you don't really think about until you're in the midst of the most awkward and vulnerable position and a strange person is shaping and replacing your breasts all over a piece of heavy machinery. What's worse is if you are like me and laugh when you're nervous... Seems I always go into a laughing fit right as the tech says "don't breathe, don't move!"  Oh and I start making conversation and put my foot in my mouth, again out of complete nervousness. Yikes, what if it's the person that strikes up the awkward conversation with you?!  Like when you hear, "hey aren't you...." Oh yeah... That's always a good one!  I've heard SO MANY HILARIOUS stories!  Wonder if this ever happens to the guys....

It just seems to me the "turn and cough" that they talk about might be a close second, but doubt the doctor brings up people you know in common while they have your "personal storage" in hand!  It is really strange and uncomfortable watching the most delicate area smashed into a pancake shape but in the same way Katie Couric shared her colonoscopy a few years ago with the world, I always thought it would be such a wonderful public service to share the importance of a mamogram.  I've seen this process save so many lives so I am confindent this is a must!  Expecially as the daughter of a breast cancer survivor!  Then I get in there and in that incredibly vunerable state re-think the video cameras! Believe it or not, not everyone feels that way.  It astounds me how many woman are willing to let the cameras in...

Here's today's call to action... Talk to your doctor and schedule yours today.  Don't take a chance missing something that could be prevented with early detection!  Oh and make sure you share if any of those truly hilarious moments happen to pop up with your "breastical" in the hand of a stranger, being adjusted into the perfect pancake.  Maybe you are the funny one who will ask the nurse for some syurp!  Ha Ha
